The subject of my illustration is a stick man laying on his stomach with a chainsaw sticking out of the back, with a pool of blood surrounding the scene. I chose it because in a scene in American Psycho, Patrick Bateman, the main character who is an investment banker by day and serial killer by night, chases down a woman in his apartment building and drops a chainsaw from the top of a stairwell. Bateman watches and cackles when it hits her, dropping her in an instant and leaving her blood spilling out on the floor. It is a graphic scene that I think sticks with everyone who has watched the movie, and it makes a good pictogram for the movie. I like how the simplicity of the image makes it so all the emphasis is right on the actual art, and the red and black contrast quite well on the blank background. My advice for someone who wants to make a similar piece of art would be to try to stick to as few colors as you can, and to make sure the proportions fit to ⅔ for the image and ⅓ for the text.
